One of the buildings at the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in the US experienced an explosion and fire on Tuesday, local authorities said. As reported, a transformer exploded. The causes are not known yet, but the plant is still operating. No one was hurt in the incident.

According to the US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) government agency that supervises the power plant, the fire broke out at around 10 local time (18 in Poland), and it was extinguished an hour and a half later.

“Nobody has been hurt. There is no risk to the electricity network. Electricity is still generated,” USBR said on Twitter, announcing an investigation into the causes of the explosion.

The recordings posted on social media show flames in the installation next to the dam itself.

Built in the 1930s, the Hoover Dam is the largest of its kind in USA. The reservoir created by the dam, Lake Mead, is the largest man-made lake in the world and supplies water to five states in the US southwest. Due to the drought, the water level in the lake is at a record low.
