Hillary Clinton, Bono, Denzel Washington and Anna Wintour were among those awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden. It is the highest civilian state decoration in the United States.
The ceremony took place on Saturday at the White House. Those honored by the outgoing president included: singer and U2 bandleader Bono; long-time editor-in-chief of the American edition of Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour; former first lady, secretary of state and presidential candidate Hillary Clitnton, as well as famous actors – Denzel Washington and Michael J. Fox.
The White House pointed out that those honored with presidential medals are “good people who have made extraordinary contributions to the development of the country and the world.”
