A dangerous incident took place at Disneyland in California on Saturday evening. During the show, the dragon measuring nearly 14 meters burst into flames. Spectators watching the performance had to flee, Reuters reported, citing local authorities.
The incident happened late Saturday night during the “Fantasmic” show at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
Everything was going according to plan, until the scene in which Maleficent the Witch, known from the fairy tale about Snow White, turns into a dragon. Ryan Laux, who is a frequent visitor to Disneyland, told ABC News that the fire has always been part of the show.
“This time, however, instead of bursting out of the dragon’s mouth, the flames engulfed his head,” the man reported. The dragon’s head suddenly glowed. Then I saw fire and clouds of smoke,” said a woman who was present at the scene.

First, the top of the figure caught fire, and then the whole figure burst into flames. Videos have appeared on social media showing a huge dragon being consumed by fire. In one of them, recorded by the phone of one of the viewers, a voice is heard coming from the loudspeakers, announcing that “the show cannot go on due to unforeseen circumstances”.

Due to the incident, members of the cast were evacuated from Tom Sawyer’s island where the show was taking place. Viewers watching the show from land have also been asked to go to safety. Nobody was hurt in the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

“Fantasmic” is a nightly 30-minute spectacle full of music, dancing, gushing fountains and shooting fireworks.
The main character of the show is Mickey Mouse, who takes viewers on a journey through his imagination, to finally face the villains known from Disney’s fairy tales.
The Anaheim Amusement Park is the oldest Disneyland in the world, supervised by Walt Disney himself. It opened on July 17, 1955.
