Biden: I don't think anyone is more qualified

Stephanopoulos asked Biden several times whether he realistically believed he could beat Trump, given pollsin which his opponent's advantage is growing. “I don't think anyone is more qualified,” Biden said, assessing that the polls are unreliable.

Asked if he would resign if other Democrats in Congress said it would hurt their reelection chances, Biden replied: “If God Almighty comes and tells me to do it, then I could do it.”

Reuters said the 22-minute interview, which ABC News said was neither edited nor shortened, was being panned by Democrats concerned about Biden's ability to serve another four years and whether he would be able to beat the 78-year-old Trump after his poor debate performance.

Asked how he would feel if he stayed in the race and Trump won, Biden said: “I’ll feel like I gave it my all and did a good job. That’s what it’s all about.”

Biden boasts about achievements

Earlier Friday, Biden told a crowd in Madison that some Democrats were trying to push him out of the race after his debate with Trump. But he told ABC News in an interview that senior Democrats would not ask him to step down.

He said he spoke for an hour with House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries of New York and even longer with Jim Clyburn of South Carolina.

During the interview, Biden highlighted his achievements, saying he had expanded FOR THIShas developed an economy and has a peace plan for the Middle East. Biden has also spoken of plans to expand health care and make changes to the tax system.
