The US president stressed that Russian troops will not stop in Ukraine. “Make no mistake. Ukraine can and will stop Putin,” he assured. “Particularly with our joint support, because they have our full support,” he added.

Joe Biden said there are currently 100,000 American troops on the European continent. “NATO is moving just as fast, not only strengthening the battle groups in the east, but also adding four more in Bulgariaon HungaryIn Romania and Slovakiadoubling its strength on NATO's eastern flank, he said.

Biden announces transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine

– Together we are building a global coalition to stand with Ukraine. Together we are providing significant humanitarian and economic assistance. Together we are providing Ukraine with the weapons it needs to defend itself: tanks, armored vehicles, air defense systems, long-range missiles and millions of rounds of ammunition. United States and two dozen partners signed a bilateral security agreement with Ukraine, Joe Biden said.

The American leader announced a “historic transfer of air defense equipment to Ukraine.” – The United States, Germany, the Netherlands and Romania will deliver equipment for five additional strategic air defense systems to Ukraine in the coming months. Ukraine will receive hundreds of additional interceptors over the next year to help protect Ukrainian cities from Russian missiles, Biden said.

– We will make sure that when we transfer critical air defense systems, Ukraine will be able to defend itself as it deserves. We will defend Ukrainian cities from Russian missiles – he said.

At the same time as Joe Biden's speech, the White House announced in a statement that Ukraine would receive four Patriot systems and one SAMP/T system. Additionally, the US and partners will provide Ukraine with dozens of tactical air defense systems. As the White House explained in a statement, the US, Germany, and Romania will provide Ukraine with additional Patriot batteries, the Netherlands with components of the same system, and Italy will provide the SAMP/T system. Additionally, in the coming months, the US and partners are to provide “dozens” of shorter-range systems, including NASAMS, HAWK, IRIS T-SLM, IRIS-T SLS, and Gepard. These are to be donated by Canada, Norway, Spain, and the United Kingdom, among others.

Biden: Kiev, which was supposed to fall in five days, is still standing

– Make no mistake. Russia is losing this war. For almost three years of this war, Putin's losses are terrible. More than 350,000 soldiers have died and are wounded, and more than a million have fled Russia because they see no future in this country. And Kiev, which was supposed to fall in five days, is still standing and will continue to stand – the US president continued.

Joe Biden said that before the war broke out, Putin thought NATO would split. “NATO is stronger today than it has ever been. When this senseless war began, Ukraine was a free country and it still is today. The war will end, and Ukraine will remain a free and independent country. Russia will not succeed. Ukraine will triumph,” he announced.

At the end of his speech, Joe Biden noted that NATO “is an alliance of countries, but also an alliance of leaders,” pointing to the long-standing work of its head, Jens Stoltenberg. The Secretary General was awarded the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
