The US Senate adopted solutions enabling faster voting on the aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. Republican Senator Mitt Romney, among others, argued about the need for help from the US. If the United States doesn’t lead, no one will, Romney was quoted as saying.
On Monday, the US Senate, in which the Democrats are in the majority, adopted solutions enabling to shorten the debate and speed up the vote on the aid package worth USD 95 billion for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. If, as expected, the bill is passed by the Senate, its future will be decided by the House of Representatives.
Republican Senator Mitt Romney explained during the debate how important it is to help Ukraine.
– We were not asked to send American troops to war, but only to help Ukrainians defend themselves. If we don’t help Ukraine, Putin will invade the country FOR THIS. Ukraine is not the end, it is a step, and allowing Putin to introduce his order in Europe would threaten our security, said Senator Mitt Romney during the debate.
