US border guards found two abandoned children on the Rio Grande River on the Mexican border. As it turned out, the two-year-old and the three-month-old girl are citizens of Honduras. The children were taken to a nearby border post, they are healthy.
Officers on boats patrolled the river outside the town of Eagle Pass on Tuesday. On the shore, they noticed colors that were unusual in such an environment. When they arrived at the shore, they found two young children. There was a note hidden under the baby carrier stating that the children were Honduran citizens. They are siblings – a two-year-old girl and a three-month-old boy.
The officers took the children to the boat and searched the area, finding no more people. The children are healthy, they did not require medical care. They were taken to a nearby border post, where further decisions will be made.
