There was a gunshot attack on the campus of Michigan State University. State police initially said five people were injured, but later confirmed three people had died. He also published photos of the man suspected of carrying out the attack. The perpetrator is wanted.

University police first tweeted that shots had been fired near the campus building, known as Berkey Hall, and that anyone in the area should take cover. About 45 minutes later, it was reported that a search was underway for the suspect, who apparently fled on foot.

Soon after, police said there were reports of a second shooting at the IM East fitness center and sports complex, which is also on campus, and that five people were injured. It added that the perpetrator is still at large.

The Detroit News, citing university spokeswoman Emily Guerrant, said one person had died near Berkey Hall. The police then reported the deaths of three people.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said on Twitter that she was being updated on the situation. “I was informed of the shooting at Michigan State University. The Michigan State Police along with local law enforcement and first responders are on the scene,” she wrote.
