A Florida man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after authorities found the bodies of his partner and son, US media reported. The body of a two-year-old boy was found in an alligator’s mouth. Authorities did not say what caused the baby’s death or whether an animal was involved.

Police received a missing-persons report of 2-year-old Taylen after his 20-year-old mother, Pashun Jeffery, was found dead on March 30 in her St. Petersburg, Florida, the local police said in a statement posted on social media on April 1. The officers then began an extensive search for the boy.

After a day of searching the area, officers were alerted in the evening to an alligator seen “with something in its mouth” at Dell Homes Park on Lake Maggiore. That’s a few miles from the apartment where Jeffery’s body was found. According to the services, the predator was killed. An autopsy on the body of a child found in an alligator’s mouth revealed that it was Taylen. According to police, the local coroner has already determined the cause of death of the two-year-old boy, but the services have not yet made it public. They also did not say whether the alligator contributed to the death of the two-year-old.

Mosley appeared in Pinellas County District Court for the first time on April 2, Fox News reported. Judge Patrice Moore, quoted by this portal, reported that on March 29, Jeffery’s family attended a birthday party for the accused of a double homicide. The relatives left the house after 5 p.m. local time. The portal also refers to data from Mosley’s phone, according to which around 20:42 the man left the building and headed towards Lake Maggiore, near which his son’s body was later found. He then showed up at his mother’s house “with lacerations on his arms,” Fox News added.

According to the same account, Jeffrey’s mother called the administration representative of the building where her daughter lived with Mosley and their child the day after the party, after being unable to contact her. Administration officials arrived at the scene to find the victim’s body with “more than 100 stab wounds and evidence linking Mosley to her murder,” Fox News reported.
