On Saturday, a bus crash occurred in the US state of Mississippi. At least seven people died, including a six-year-old boy and his 16-year-old sister, and 37 people were taken to hospitals with injuries, US media reported, citing local authorities.
The accident occurred in the early afternoon local time near the city of Bovina, Mississippi. The bus veered off the road and overturned. It is not yet known what caused the road accident.
Among the victims were siblings
Six people died at the scene, and a seventh died after being taken to a hospital. “Anytime you have people killed or injured, it's a tragedy, but it's even worse when you have a situation like this where there are multiple deaths and injuries,” Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace told the media.
No identities of any of the victims were released, but Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey confirmed to CBS News that the dead included siblings from Guatemala — a 6-year-old and a 16-year-old. He added that other passengers on the bus were from the Central American country.
