American cities affected by wildfires in Canada. Most of the Washington metropolitan area is also exposed to dangerous weather conditions – in addition, Charlotte, Detroit, Indianapolis, Delaware and Rhode Island are still under alerts for poor air quality.

Nearly 75 million people in USA is still exposed to the effects of raging in Canada forest fires. Due to the toxic air, New York City officials have urged residents to limit their time outdoors and wear face masks.

Children from New York schools have a day off on Thursday. Two school districts in New Jersey closed. Other facilities resign from outdoor activities and field trips.

Many cultural events have been cancelled. Zoos have closed, sporting events and even some Broadway shows have been postponed.

US cities on alert

Pollution concentrations in New York City are still high, but the quality has improved slightly compared to Wednesday, when New York City was named the most polluted city in the world. “Weather forecasts suggest air quality will improve over the weekend,” CNN reported.

Most of the Washington metropolitan area is also exposed to dangerous weather conditions. In addition, Charlotte, Detroit, Indianapolis, Delaware and Rhode Island are still under alerts for poor air quality.

The Federal Aviation Administration said morning flights in the US were delayed an average of 34 minutes on Thursday by smoke from the Canadian wildfires.
