According to local officials, police received a report around 8am on Sunday, regarding a 47-year-old man who had fallen into a storm drain near the Cross Island Parkway and Whitestone Expressway in New York City. The victim’s brother was at the scene and called for help. As it turned out, the victim fell into a storm drain almost ten meters deep. According to the police, there was no pedestrian crossing nearby, it is not known how long the man was imprisoned there.

New York City police officers and firefighters were called to the scene of the accident and carried out a rescue operation. The 47-year-old was at risk of hypothermia because he was submerged in cold water.
The first task of the crews was to calm the man who sighed with relief at the sight of the rescue team.
“He was conscious when we got down there, he was talking to us, his leg hurt,” said Kenneth Logallo of the New York Police Department. “We got the man out as soon as we got the equipment,” he added.
The video shows a heroic rescue operation that lasted about 20 minutes. The man probably broke his leg and had a cut on his forehead.
