The alleged acts allegedly occurred during the artist's tour, in April 2024, after a performance at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Garrett claims that the singer then sent him to the store to buy ice cream, and when he returned, her security chief called him to her dressing room. Minaj's other collaborators were also there. The singer herself allegedly expressed her dissatisfaction with the way her team performed their duties.

During the discussion, she was allegedly angered by the manager's attitude, whose answers drove her “crazy”. She shouted obscenities at him. – You've fucked up your whole life, you'll never be someone, I'll make sure of it – she was supposed to tell him.

According to Garrett's account in the lawsuit, the artist then struck him with an “open hand” on the “right side of his face, causing his head to tilt back and his hat to fall to the floor.” She also allegedly hit him on the wrist, causing him to drop the documents he was holding, and then threw him out of the room. The man claims that after the incident he feared for his safety, so he locked himself in the bathroom for several hours. The next day he filed a police report.

According to Garrett, the rapper “abused her position” and “harassed, threatened, used profanity and brutally punched him multiple times,” and her actions were dictated by “an intent to cause serious emotional distress” or involved conscious disregard of the possibility that he would suffer “serious emotional suffering.”

In a statement sent to Variety magazine, Minaj's lawyer Judd Burstein firmly denied the allegations, although he emphasized that the singer had not received any complaints so far. “We are confident that the case brought by the former assistant will be quickly resolved in Ms. Petty's favor” (Minaj's real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty – ed.) – he said.
