Scott Bessent will manage the American Ministry of Finance. The US Senate approved its nomination for this office on Monday. The candidate gained votes of the vast majority of the chamber. – I will be 100 percent for accepting sanctions, especially towards Russian oil giants to levels that would force the Russian Federation to come to the negotiating table – he declared.
The nomination for Scott Bessent for the Secretary of the Treasury was approved by the ratio of votes 68-29, of which 23 Democrats voted behind the Republican.
Bessent is the fifth member of the office Donald Trump approved by the Senate after the heads of the departments: diplomacy (Marco Rubio), defense (Pete HegeSeth), national security (Kristi Noem) and the director of the CIA (John Ratcliffe).
During the hearing in front of the Senate Commission for Finance Bessent, a billionaire and one of the sponsors of Donald Trump campaigns, he declared support to extend the cuts of taxes introduced during the first term of Trump, as well as introducing new customs and the independence of the federal reserve. He also claimed that the duties announced by Trump would not contribute to the increase in prices for American consumers.

Bessent also expressed support for increasing sanctions against Russiaincluding in the oil sector. – If any official in the Russian Federation observes this hearing, he should know that if I am approved and President Trump will ask for it as an element of his ending strategy wars in UkraineI will be 100 percent for adopting sanctions, especially towards Russian oil giants to levels that would force the Russian Federation to come to the negotiating table – he declared.
The new treasury secretary was in the past a partner in the investment fund of George Soros, and recently he headed the Key Square Capital fund he founded.
