Maine State Police and the Androscoggin County sheriff said Wednesday evening local time that there were two shootings in Lewiston.
CNN television reported, citing police sources, that as a result of two different incidents, at least 16 people were killed and another 50-60 were injured.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office posted two photos on Facebook of the suspect in the attacks at a bowling alley and a local restaurant, saying he was at large. The sheriff asked the media for help in identifying the suspect.
Lewiston General Hospital said in a statement that it “treats those injured following a mass accident or shooting.” He added that he is working with local hospitals to admit patients.
