Five people have been shot dead in Cleveland, Texas by a man armed with an AR-15 machine gun, police said. The perpetrator escaped and is wanted by the police.
The incident took place after 11 pm local time (after 6 am in Poland). The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a shooting in Cleveland, a small town more than 50 miles north of Houston.
The suspect is armed with an AR-15 machine gun. He is approximately 170cm tall and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and work boots, police said.
Residents are to stay at home
Residents in the Cleveland area are asked to “stay at home and stay away from the crime scene until the investigation is completed,” it said.
Police did not reveal the suspect’s identity, age or possible link to the victims, but confirmed that all the shootings took place in one house and that four people died at the scene and a fifth in hospital.
