At least six people were killed in shootings at Halloween weekend parties in various US cities. More than 40 people were injured.
In Texarkana, Texas, three people were killed and three injured during a party on Saturday.
“It started with a fistfight. At one point, at least two men took out rifles and started shooting,” reported the Texas Police Department, quoted by NBC. It was added that six people aged 19 to 31 were shot. One man died at the scene, while the woman and another man died in hospital overnight. The three remaining victims – two men and a woman – suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives are looking for a suspect, 20-year-old Breoski Warren.
A fight broke out and the attacker shot 15 people
In Indianapolis, during a party attended by about 100 people, one woman died on the spot and eight people were injured. Shots were fired on Sunday after midnight and everyone started running away. According to officers, the victims are between 16 and 22 years old. According to a Chicago police report, several people were attending a Halloween party in the North Lawndale neighborhood on Sunday when a fight broke out around 1:15 a.m. The attacker shot 15 people aged 26 to 53. They were transported to local hospitals. Two of the injured – a 26-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man – are in critical condition. “The perpetrator fled on foot and was arrested by officers. They found a gun on him,” NBC reported.
In Florida, in Tampa, two people are dead and 18 injured in a shooting in Ybor City during Halloween celebrations taking place in the area. Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said a fight broke out between two groups just before 3 a.m. “Hundreds of innocent people were caught in the skirmish between the two groups,” NBC quoted Bercawa as saying.
