The body of a young woman found in Grand Teton National Park is Gabby Petito’s, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said. The search for her partner Brian Laundrie, who traveled with her in the United States, is underway. He returned home alone in Florida in September and refused to speak to the police.
Teton County Coroner Brent Blue stated that blogger Gabby Petito was the victim of the murder, but at this point he has not disclosed the exact cause of the woman’s death. The body was found last Sunday at a campsite on the east side of Grand Teton National Park.
The disappearance of Gabby Petito
Gabby Petito has been missing while traveling the country with her partner Brian Laundrie. They drove west from Florida in a van to visit national parks in this part of the US. Petito regularly published photos from the expedition on social media, the last time on August 25. At the end of August, she also contacted her family for the last time.
On September 1, Laundrie himself returned to his home in Florida in his friend’s van. The man who hired a lawyer and refused to talk to the police disappeared after several days without a trace. The family reported him missing last Friday.
Florida police launched a search for Laundrie, which focused, among other things, on the protected Carlton Reserve Wetlands in the North Port area of Sarasota, on the west coast of Florida.
Gabby’s family notified police that she was missing on September 11. Authorities then began a large-scale search, which focused on Grand Teton National Park, from where the young woman was to contact her loved ones for the last time.
The case of the blogger’s death and the explanation of the role her partner played in this tragedy is followed and widely reported by the American media.
