On March 13, the animals were taken to an animal shelter in the city of Raleigh, North Carolina. Their owner could no longer care for them. After that, the animals stayed in a temporary home.

About two weeks later, the nonprofit Friends of Wake County Animal Center, which supports local animal shelters, shared the story of the two friends on social media. The post has been shared more than 3,000 times and garnered hundreds of comments. Many people became interested in the fate of Cinnamon and Felix. The animals quickly found volunteers who would adopt them. They went to a family that already takes care of a small herd of goats.
