The federal judge from Boston blocked the decision of Donald Trump about issuing passports informing only about the biological sex of their owners. The president signed a regulation on this matter in January. He was later suffered by a group of transgender and non -unintenant Americans, who accused him of discrimination on grounds of gender and violation of the rights guaranteed by the constitution.

Even before them, applying for a new document in USAyou could choose one of three options in the sex category: male, female and X – different. This choice did not have to be in line with biological sex, and a possible change in sex in documents did not require the presentation of medical records.
The Trump regulation ordered only male and female to recognize. It also made it impossible to apply for documents with gender designation other than that at birth. In the lawsuit submitted in April, a group of transgender and non -unnamed people stated that these actions are a manifestation of discrimination on the basis of gender and violate the provisions of the American constitution. Judge Kobick accepted their arguments and ordered the reasons to issue documents in accordance with their sexual identity.
The court's decision is blocked by the Trump regulation
On Tuesday, judge Kobick decided to extend the previous decision. She gave the status of a collective lawsuit and ordered the suspension of a new passport policy towards all transgender, non -unnamed and intersial owners of American passports.
Li Nowlin-Sohl from the American Association of Civil Rights (ACLU) described the judgment of judge Kobick as “a key victory over discrimination.” The deputy spokeswoman of the White House Anna Kelly accused the judge of “dishonesty”, an attempt to “thwart President Trump's plans” and “promotion of radical gender ideology that contradicts biological truth.”
The lawsuit, under which judge Kobick worked, is one of several complex against the regulation. Tuesday's decision is temporary. It will apply until the final resolution of the claim. “Although this is good news, we will continue to fight until the regulation is permanently blocked,” said the American Union of Civil Liberal Freedom (ACLU), which supports a group of plaintiffs in their claims.
According to the estimates of the Williams Institute, about 1.3 million Americans are identified as non -final or transgender persons.
