In Usnarz Górny, on the Polish-Belarusian border, several dozen migrants wander for another day. Member of the Civic Coalition Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said in “Faktach po Faktach” on TVN24 that “the PiS government is not able to protect borders” and on the other hand “is completely ruthless and deaf to humanitarian issues.”
At the Polish-Belarusian border in Usnarz Górny in Podlasie a camp was established for migrants who are being pushed out of Belarus by the local services. The refugees are guarded by the Polish Border Guard and the Belarusian army. The authorities in Minsk are accused of deliberately transferring migrants from countries such as Iraq or Afghanistan across the borders with Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, which are also the borders of the Schengen area, in order to put pressure on the European Union because of the sanctions it has imposed on the Belarusian regime.
Sienkiewicz: The PiS government is incapable of protecting borders
This situation was referred to in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 by Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, a former head of the Ministry of the Interior, from the Civic Coalition.
– We cannot tolerate illegal border crossing. I want to say it with all firmness. However, there are points where these people can be admitted, considered individually, so far no one has directed them there. This is a crisis of not being able to deal with it, he said.
– In a civilized country, on the one hand, the law is exercised and the impassability of its own borders is defended, and on the other hand, it is guided by elementary humanitarianism towards people who try to transgress them. It is simply a requirement of civilization, he continued.
– The problem is that the PiS government is not able to protect borders, (…), and on the other hand, it is completely ruthless and deaf to humanitarian issues – said the KO MP.
According to Sienkiewicz, “it is a helplessness, we cannot afford it”.
