Police officers from Ustroń (Silesian Voivodeship) arrested a repeated burglar after a chase. The losses caused by his actions were estimated at nearly PLN 60,000. The perpetrator was caught thanks to city surveillance cameras. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
According to the Silesian Police in a press release, a hooded man hanging around the car wash aroused the suspicions of the monitoring operator, who notified the police about this fact. The patrol arrived at the scene when the perpetrator was still robbing a cash machine. As it later turned out, he broke into the devices of a self-service car wash and stole over PLN 1,000 in cash.
Police chase
Upon seeing the police, the man started to run away. After a short chase, thanks to the monitoring operator tracking the escape and his constant contact with the police patrol, the perpetrator was arrested. “The 34-year-old man was well known to the uniformed services. Over the last 10 years, he had committed several dozen crimes against property, for which he had been punished many times. This time, he was charged not one, but as many as five charges regarding crimes committed in the Cieszyn district. In total, the losses caused by the actions of the 34-year-old, were valued at nearly PLN 60,000,” says the Silesian Police.
A man faces up to 10 years in prison for burglary. But due to the fact that he acted in conditions of recidivism, the Penal Code provides for an increase in the penalty by half. The court will decide the fate of the 34-year-old.
