Vatican altar purified after bare man protested Ukraine struggle | World Information

A desecrated Vatican altar underwent purification after a person jumped on it bare in a type of protest in opposition to the struggle in Ukraine earlier this week.

An unidentified man stood on the primary altar of St Peter’s Basilica, a church in Vatican City, stripping off his garments and revealing an inscription on his again saying: “Save kids of Ukraine”.

A prayer service often called a penitential ceremony to cleanse the holy desk was carried out by Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, the basilica’s archpriest, different monks and members of the trustworthy.

The service, required by a set of non secular rules known as Canon legislation, included the altar being blessed with holy water.

Mr Gambetti condemned the bare man, saying he had dedicated an “inappropriate, really regrettable gesture” to deliver consideration to the victims of struggle.

The person, who was Polish, was handed over to Italian police who issued an expulsion order requiring him to go away Italy, Vatican Information reported.
