14 people died and six were injured in a fire in a residential building in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi. The building was located in a narrow alley in a densely populated district. Rescue teams had to force the lock on the outer gate and break the building's windows.

The fire broke out after midnight local time (after 6 p.m. on Thursday in Poland). It was accompanied by several explosions. In the courtyard of the building, part of which was intended as a lodging house, two-wheeled electric vehicles were sold and repaired.

It took the fire brigade about an hour to extinguish the fire. According to AFP, rescue teams also had to break the lock on the external gate and break the building's windows.

Reuters, citing a police statement, reported that firefighters managed to save seven people. The causes of the fire are under investigation.

Reuters recalled that in September last year in fire in an apartment building in Hanoi at least 56 people were killed, including children, and 37 were injured.
