This year's Independence Day concert took place in Wrocław. Stars such as: Kayah, Victoria Gabor, Piotr Cugowski and Kamil Bednarek. The show was divided into two parts. The first one was supposed to refer to solidarity with the flood victims. The second part, according to the organizers' announcement, was to feature songs “describing Polish reality”. How did it work out in practice? Viewers were not thrilled.
The TVP concert was a huge failure. “Do you know what Independence Day is?!”
The audience does not hide their disappointment with the selection of the repertoire. The vast majority of them expected patriotic songs, not “common songs”. “With all due respect… This year's concert is an embarrassment. You can't watch it. Are there really no beautiful songs?”, “TVPdo you know what Independence Day is? I expected a patriotic concert. Tragedy”, “This is not a concert for November 11. Let them play it at another time, “Misery and Sadness” – we read on the Bezmy Razem profile TVP on Facebook. The selection of songs is not everything. The presenters were also offended – Paulina Chylewska and Robert Stockinger. “Disappointment. The presenter talks about nothing”, “The concert should have been hosted by Tomasz Wolny. There hasn't been a better host in years,” wrote frustrated viewers.
Why couldn't Tomasz Wolny conduct the concert?
In June, the presenter left Telewizja Polska for good. Free left after he was excluded from the “(un)banned songs” concert. “Everything is clear. (Not) forbidden – but for me it is forbidden. After months of reflection, the new TVP authorities have just decided that they will not allow me to traditionally conduct a concert of “(un)forbidden songs” at Piłsudski Square on the anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising. Insurgents, I was patiently waiting for the decision on this matter, but since everything is clear, I am finally parting ways with Telewizja Polska,” the presenter wrote then.
