The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns of storms in a large area of ​​the country. For part of the Małopolska province, the warning level has been raised to the highest. In some regions, it will be dangerous until Friday morning. IMGW forecasts very heavy rainfall.

Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first and second degree meteorological warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.

IMWM warnings of the third degree – storms

Warnings of the third, highest level, are in force in the province Lesser Polandin the counties of Limanowa, Nowy Sącz and Nowy Sącz.

The forecasts are stormswhich in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 30 to 50 liters per square meter, locally up to 70 l/sq. m., and wind gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. Hail will appear locally. The warnings will expire at 4 a.m. on Friday.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – storms

Second degree warnings apply in the following provinces:

  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Subcarpathianin the western and central counties;
  • Silesianin the eastern counties;
  • Lesser Polandoutside the counties covered by higher level warnings.

In these places, during storms, very heavy rainfall from 35 to 50 l/m2 is predicted, as well as wind gusts of up to 70 km/h. Locally, hail will also fall.

The warnings in the Silesian province will be valid until midnight, in the Małopolskie and Świętokrzyskie provinces they will expire at 4 a.m. on Friday, and in the Podkarpackie province at 7 a.m. the same day.

First-degree storm warnings have been issued for a large area of ​​Poland. They apply to the following provinces:

Thunderstorms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 20 to 35 liters per square meter and wind gusts accelerating to 70 kilometers per hour. Locally, hail will appear.
