The commission of inquiry into the visa scandal plans to hear the last two witnesses on Wednesday: the president of Law and Justice, Jarosław Kaczyński, and the former president of Orlen, Daniel Obajtek. However, their statements so far indicate that both will not appear and request a hearing at another date, after the European Parliament elections.

“The Visa Committee's plan for Wednesday: 10:00 Jarosław Kaczyński, 15:00 Daniel Obajtek. We have been preparing for this meeting for half a year. We are fully ready!” – wrote the chairman of the parliamentary investigative committee on the visa scandal, Michał Szczerba, on Platform X.

The chairman of the committee said that he expected both witnesses to be present on Wednesday, especially since both were effectively summoned to the meeting. He pointed out that if the president PIS does not appear, the commission will consider a motion to impose a disciplinary penalty on him. However, if the former president of Orlen fails to appear again, the commission will not only file a motion for a disciplinary penalty, but also a motion to be detained and brought to questioning.

Daniel Obajtek He failed to appear for questioning last week and was therefore summoned again for Wednesday. On Monday, the former head of Orlen, who is running for the European Parliament on the PiS list in Podkarpacie, said that it was the end of the campaign and therefore he did not have time to appear for a hearing before the committee. In a statement published on X last week, Obajtek declared that he “looks forward to participating in the committee meeting” after the election campaign.

The PiS president asked the committee to change the hearing date to later elections to the EP. He justified it by staying abroad as part of fulfilling his political obligations during the election campaign. Szczerba, however, announced that Kaczyński's request had not been granted.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski was in Brussels on Tuesday, where he met with farmers protesting against the European Green Deal. When asked if he would appear for questioning, he replied: “I will appear, but on one condition: that it will not be based on someone threatening me with the police.”
