The President of Ukraine met in Paris with the President of France and the Chancellor of Germany. Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz for supplies of long-range heavy weapons and aircraft. Earlier, Zelensky was in the UK, where he spoke before the parliament and talked with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Paris late on Wednesday evening, where he met his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and the chancellor German Olaf Scholz.

His plane landed at Orly airport near Paris. President Zelensky was greeted there by the defense minister France Sebastien Lecornu. The visit is the second leg of his European journey, which first went to London and will travel to Brussels on Thursday for the European Union Summit.

Zelensky calls for arms deliveries

– France and Germany have been at Ukraine’s side all these months. We’ve been through a lot together,” Zelensky said. – Emmanuel (Macro – ed.) supported Ukraine first with light tanks, and Olaf (Scholz – ed.) showed his leadership by giving the necessary weapons to stop the Russian terror. “The sooner Ukraine receives long-range heavy weapons, the sooner our pilots receive planes, the sooner this Russian aggression will end and we can return to peace in Europe,” Zelensky said in Paris.

– Since the beginning of this cruel war, we have significantly supported Ukraine financially, humanitarian aid and weapons. We will do this as long as necessary. President Macron and I will assure President Zelensky of this today in Paris, stressed Chancellor Scholz. ‘Ukraine belongs to the European family,’ stressed the head of the German government.

President Macron stressed that Russia cannot win a war with Ukraine, which “can count on France, its European partners and allies.” – What is happening in Ukraine is related to the future of Europe and we are fully aware of this – added the head of the French state.
