For a year, the Russians have been taking lives and wreaking havoc on a scale that has not been experienced in Europe since World War II. They destroy families. They take away the innocence of children. The war unleashed by them changes the world and everyone involved in it. Volodymyr Zelensky – until recently simply the president of Ukraine, and today the leader of the free, democratic world fighting authoritarianism – has also changed. The juxtaposed photographs show him a year ago, in the following months of the heroic defense of Ukraine, and now.
The first of the photos is from the recording of the president’s speech from February 23, 2022, the day before the start of Russia unlawful invasion. The second photograph was taken 352 days later – on February 9, 2023, when the president was greeted in European Parliament.

The photo on the left shows Volodymyr Zelensky at the time of the official statement little more than a week after the start of the invasion. The photo on the right shows the president during a conference organized for journalists from around the world on February 24, 2023.
In these two photos you can see the serious and focused face of the Ukrainian leader. One was published on March 2, 2022, and the second seven months later – on October 25, 2022.
In these photos, Zelensky speaks after meetings with other leaders. The first one was performed on February 23, 2022 during a joint conference with the presidents of Poland and Lithuania, Andrzej Duda and Gitanas Nauseda. On the second, the Ukrainian president takes part in a conference with Andrzej Duda on May 22, 2022.

“He is now a role model for young people, for young politicians”
ABOUT Zelensky and about his path over the last year Ukrainian MP Mykola Kniażycki and former Polish ambassador to Kiev, Jan Piekło, spoke on Thursday in “Kropka nad i”. – He is a young man who showed determination and courage – said Piekło. According to the former ambassador, “he is now such a role model for young people, for young politicians, probably not only in our part of the world, but also in other parts of the world.”
– I think that this determination and undoubtedly his innate acting skills, including oratorical talent, helped him convey a certain message to the whole world and parliaments around the world, which allows (…) to better understand Ukraine and be in solidarity – he added.
Kniażycki said, however, that “Zełenski’s heroism is not only in the fact that he is the leader of society, but in the fact that he goes along with his society.”
