– Ukraine is grateful Lithuania and Poland, and we will not allow it Russia and its terrorist groups, at least for attempts to destabilize the security of the Lithuanian and Polish nations from the territory of Belarus. For Ukraine, the security of its partners is also its security, said the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in a video link speech at the European Union Summit.

As he pointed out, during the visit of the presidents of Poland and Lithuania to Kiev – Andrzej Duda and Gitanas Nauseda – the topic of the talks was “the situation on the territory of Belarus and the resulting challenges”. Ukraine takes the position that “any attempt to blackmail Europe” should be “equally assessed by all of Europe,” Zelensky said.

He argued that the more Ukrainian soldiers manage to achieve on the front, “the longer Russia will not pose a threat to Ukraine and all of our Europe.” He assessed that today Russia’s “weakness” is visible. “History shows that failed aggressions always weaken dictatorships, and that’s what we’re seeing now in Russia, this weakness we need,” he said.

Zelensky thanks EU countries for arming

Zelensky thanked the European Union countries for the arms transferred to Ukraine and the adopted sanctions packages. He called for further sanctions, because repeating them – as he explained – would not allow Russia to adapt to the restrictions and try to circumvent them.

Zelensky said that his country had provided EU diplomats with data on Russia’s use of foreign parts for the production of missiles. He also informed that on July 1 this year, when Spain, the country’s prime minister, will assume the presidency of the EU Council Pedro Sanchez will visit Ukraine.
