Chinese President Xi Jinping allegedly “gave his word” to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky that his country would not sell weapons to Russia. Zelensky said this during a press conference with Joe Biden during the G7 summit in Italy. At the end of May, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps stated that British and American intelligence had evidence that China was already providing or would provide Russia with lethal weapons to use against Ukraine.

– I had a telephone conversation with the leader China (Xi Jinping – ed.). He said he wouldn't sell Russia no weapons. We will see if he is a decent person or not because he gave me his word, he said Volodymyr Zelensky during Thursday's press conference with Joe Biden during the G7 summit in Puglia in the south Italian. Zelensky did not specify when this conversation took place.

It is officially known that since Russia's armed invasion of… Ukraine Zelensky and Xi spoke by phone only once: on April 26, 2023.

Biden's attention

– By the way, China is not providing weapons, but the ability to produce them and the technology available to do so, so they are actually helping Russia – interjected Joe Biden, holding China partially responsible for Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.

Just before the conference, Presidents Biden and Zelensky signed a 10-year Ukraine-US security agreementthe text of which states that it is a bridging agreement announcing Ukraine's accession to FOR THIS. The agreement aims to ensure Ukraine can defend itself against Russia, including against future attacks.

British and US intelligence findings

At the end of May, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps revealed that British and American intelligence had evidence that China was already providing or would provide Russia with lethal weapons to use against Ukraine.

– We have evidence that Russia and China are cooperating on combat equipment for use in Ukraine. As we saw during (Vladimir) Putin's state visit to Beijing and (as shown by) the 64 percent increase in trade between Russia and China since the full-scale invasion, they support each other, Shapps said during the opening speech of the annual London Defense Conference.

As he added, interviews USA and Britain revealed that “lethal aid is now or will be flowing from China to Russia and Ukraine.” “I think this is a significant development and we should be concerned about it because in the earlier days of this war China presented itself as having a moderating influence on Putin,” added the UK Defense Secretary.
