Jacek Siewiera, head of the National Security Bureau, referring to the Wagnerian rebellion in Russia in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24, said that “in such situations, every scenario must be taken into account.” When asked whether the Polish services were already watching the movement of soldiers of the Wagner Group to Belarus, he replied that he did not confirm it. “The information we have suggests rather that a large part of the mercenaries who have signed military contracts with the Wagner Group prefer to stay on Ukrainian territory to conduct further military operations,” he said.

Reserve Major Jacek Siewiera, head of the National Security Bureau, commented on “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 on the situation related to the Wagnerian rebellion in Russiawhich ran from Friday to Saturday. He spoke about the actions taken by the Polish authorities at that time.

– The events on Friday evening were so exceptional that the BBN started the first consultations, the first talks, both among themselves, but above all with our partners and allies – he said.

He added that “during such historic events, this exchange of information is undoubtedly very intense.” – We were in constant contact with our partners – he assured.

“Every scenario must be considered”

Siewiera was asked whether on Saturday the Polish authorities had the impression that what was happening then could be the beginning of a civil war in Russia. “In these situations, every scenario has to be taken into account, there is actually a great deal of analytical work behind that simple statement,” he said.

When asked what could happen to the Wagnerians now, he replied that “one thing is certain – no one can predict the further course of these events”.

Siewiera said that from the point of view of Polish security, the most important thing is what will happen to the Wagnerians now. “It’s very difficult to judge what will happen,” he said.

Siewiera: I do not confirm the movement of the Wagnerians to Belarus

The head of the National Security Bureau was also asked whether the Polish services were already observing the movement of the soldiers of the Wagner Group to Belarus.

– I do not confirm. We have information about such a possibility, but I do not confirm the transfer. Moreover, the information we have suggests that a large proportion of the mercenaries who have signed military contracts with the Wagner Group prefer to stay in Ukraine for further military action, he said.

– A certain part of people holding commanding positions in the structures of this enterprise (the Wagner Group – ed.) will definitely leave the territory of Ukraine and perhaps go to the territory of Belarus, perhaps go to Africa – continued Siewiera.
