In Wągrowiec (Wielkopolskie Voivodeship), the driver did not stop for inspection. While the police were chasing him, the passenger tried to get rid of the drugs through the window. – The plan to escape and cover up the traces failed – informs young asp. Dominik Zieliński, press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Wągrowiec.

On Monday evening, police officers patrolling Wągrowiec noticed a strangely moving vehicle heading towards Łęgowo. They immediately suspected that his driver was intoxicated. They followed him, wanting to stop the car for inspection. The driver, however, ignored the signals to stop him and decided to run away.

– The cops gave chase. After a while they witnessed scenes like from an action movie. The passenger was throwing white packages out the window. When, after a few kilometers, the men decided that there was no chance of further escape, the vehicle stopped in the bus bay – informs junior asp. Dominik Zieliński, press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Wągrowiec.

The driver and passenger were arrested. Support was called to the scene. It turned out that the driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man from Wągrowiec, was not licensed and was under the influence of amphetamine and marijuana. The man was charged with failing to comply with the order to stop the vehicle and driving under the influence of drugs. He is liable to imprisonment for up to 5 years.

They found out what was in the packages

The police found and secured the packages thrown out of the window.

– In the course of the investigation, it was established that the white packages thrown from the car were methamphetamine. In total, more than 200 grams of this drug were secured, Zieliński reports.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 47-year-old resident of Wągrowiec, was also arrested. – This man, due to his past, is well known to the police. He was detained many times, among others, for drug offences, theft, criminal threats, and destruction of property. Investigators charged him with possession of a significant amount of the drug, with the suspect committing this act in conditions of recidivism, Zieliński reports.

The man pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. The court decided to apply a preventive measure in the form of pre-trial detention. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
