Earlier on Tuesday, the head of the military authorities of the Donetsk region, Vadym Filashkin, announced that Russian forces were almost in the center of Wuhledar.
According to the chairman of the regional administration, Russian troops are gradually taking over the town, and the situation in the entire region is becoming more and more difficult. “It is currently ongoing (in the region). mandatory evacuation of families with children from a 10-kilometer zone near the front line. Almost all the children have (already) been taken away. There are still 107 people in Vuhłedar. It is very difficult to reach these people as well provide them with humanitarian aid and medicines, because there is an active phase of the war,” Filashkin admitted.

Vuhledar has been defended by the Ukrainian 72nd Mechanized Brigade for almost two years, almost since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.
