War in Ukraine. Aircraft alerts all over Ukraine despite the Russian announcement of a Christmas ceasefire

Ukrainian authorities inform about further anti-aircraft alerts in the country. In the Donetsk region, shells hit houses and blocks of flats. The shelling took place despite the Kremlin’s declaration of a “unilateral truce”.

Thursday Vladimir Putin instructed his defense minister Sergey Shoigu announcement of a “truce” on the front line on Ukraine from 12.00 on January 6 to 24.00 on January 7. The communiqué included a reference to the Orthodox Christmas, celebrated on January 7. The authorities in Kiev assessed these declarations as a propaganda maneuver aimed at strengthening Russian troops against further attacks against Ukraine.

Earlier The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, called for a “Christmas truce”.. An adviser to the Ukrainian president, Mykhailo Podolak, described it as a “cynical trap” and “an element of propaganda” Russia.

Alarms despite ‘unilateral truce’

Despite this, according to official Ukrainian sources, the alarms – lasting almost two hours – were heard on Friday, among others, in the Ternopil, Lviv, Odessa, Sumy, Chernihiv, Transcarpathian, Zaporizhia, Donetsk, Kiev, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the Ukrainian president’s office, said that Russian troops shelled Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region twice on Friday, and one of the shells hit a residential house.

“The occupiers attacked the city twice with rockets. A private house was hit. According to preliminary data, there are no victims, rescue services are working on the spot,” Tymoshenko wrote on Telegram.

Alexander Khrebet, a reporter from The Kyiv Independent, also wrote about the shelling of Kramatorsk, showing alarms throughout the country on a map.

Earlier, on Friday morning, Kyrylenko reported that the Russians shelled the center of the city of Kurachiv in the Donetsk region. The shells hit two blocks of flats and a private house. “The ward of the local hospital was damaged. According to preliminary data, one person is injured,” added Kyrylenko.

The AFP agency described that day that after the declared hour of truce in Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, shots were heard in the city from both the Ukrainian and Russian sides, although their intensity was lower compared to the previous days.

Just before noon Polish time, an anti-aircraft alert was announced throughout Ukraine. The reason was the take-off from airports on Belarus, used by the Russians, Russian military machines: A50 early warning aircraft and two fighters. One of them, the MiG31-K, is capable of carrying Kinzhal supersonic missiles, covering the whole of Ukraine.
