War in Ukraine. All heads of regional military commands will be dismissed, the president informed

In recent months, there have been many reports in the Ukrainian media about irregularities during recruitment for military service. It was reported, among other things, about illegal financial benefits accepted in exchange for waiving conscription and numerous cases of “help” in escaping abroad in order to avoid serving in the army.

Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday that the decision that the heads of military commissariats (military replenishment commands) in all regions Ukraine will be dismissed, he said after a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine.

As he added, he held talks on the situation in police stations with representatives of, among others, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of the Interior and institutions established to fight corruption.

Zelensky mentioned that 112 criminal proceedings against persons employed in supplementary commands are already pending, and 33 employees of these bodies have been charged.

The president announced that military personnel with combat experience, who had previously fought against the Russians, would become the new heads of the regional commands. We need people “deprived of cynicism, who have retained their dignity,” stressed the head of state.

He also announced that the heads of the police stations would be appointed by the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, General Valeriy Zaluzhny, but before that, the candidates for these positions would have to undergo verification by the SBU.

– Dismissed commissioners and other persons relieved of leadership positions who hold military ranks and have not been charged with prohibited acts may retain their ranks and defend their good name. (The condition is to go) to the front, added the president.
