Here we have a very clear situation – Russia is the criminal, Ukraine is the victim. We need security guarantees and the whole world needs such guarantees to prevent similar aggressions in the future – said the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland Vasyl Zwarycz in “One for One”. In this way, he commented on the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron, who assessed that Europe should consider security guarantees for Russia.

In an interview aired last week Emmanuel Macron said that “The West should consider how to respond to the Russia the need for a security guarantee if Vladimir Putin will agree to negotiations to end the war with Ukraine“. – Europe must start preparations for building a new security architecture on the continent and think about what it should look like in the future – added the president France.

Ukraine’s ambassador: we need security guarantees

Wasyl Zwarycz, the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, was asked about these words in Saturday’s “One for One” on TVN24. – The case is obvious. If we are dealing with a criminal and a victim, then no one will seek to provide guarantees for the criminal, but will try to guarantee the safety of the victim. Here we have a very clear situation – Russia is the criminal, Ukraine is the victim. We need security guarantees and the whole world needs such guarantees to prevent similar aggressions in the future – assessed Zwarcz.

“Everyone wants to contribute to our fastest victory. We understand that the situation is very brutal, that the enemy is brutal, that we are dealing with a terrorist country, but everyone wants this war to end with Ukraine’s victory as soon as possible and that the principles of international law prevail, he added, referring to the attitude of Western politicians Europe who maintain contact with Vladimir Putin.

Negotiate with Putin? Ukraine’s ambassador: he doesn’t follow any rules

Asked about possible negotiations with Russia, the Ukrainian ambassador replied that “this is an issue that must be considered from the point of view of the sense of such negotiations.” – For now, we see that there is no point in negotiating with Putin as the leader of a terrorist country, as a terrorist. He doesn’t follow any rules, he doesn’t go into negotiations, he just wants to stop time to build up his strength and move on,” he said.

He indicated that the “first condition” for the negotiations was Russia’s withdrawal from Ukraine. “They must withdraw, they must pay reparations, we must make an account for the destruction they have committed in Ukraine, and they must pay a fair price for their crimes.” We will not talk to Putin as long as he behaves as he does now.
