War in Ukraine. Another Patriot system from Germany, Volodymyr Zelensky thanks you

The German government will provide Ukraine with another Patriot air defense system, the German Ministry of Defense announced. It comes from Bundeswehr stocks and is to be handed over “immediately”. – This is a real proof of support for Ukraine at a critical moment – thanked President Volodymyr Zelensky.

So far, Germany has delivered two Patriot systems to Ukraine, writes the dpa agency. According to the Ministry of Defense, the system has already proven its worth in combat against Russian forces.

“Russian terror against Ukrainian cities and the country's infrastructure is causing immeasurable suffering,” German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said in a press release. The actions of Russian troops threaten energy supplies for the population and destroy industrial facilities important for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“We are going as far as possible with our support for Ukraine, taking into account our operational readiness,” Pistorius explained.

– Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to destroy Ukraine. Every day, its missiles and drones destroy what people need to live. Thanks to the additional Patriot system, we stand on the side of the people of Ukraine and strengthen the protective shield over their cities, emphasized German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Saturday, quoted by the dpa agency.

Zelensky expressed his thanks

“I had an important and productive conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. I am grateful to the Chancellor for the decision to deliver an additional Patriot air defense system to Ukraine, as well as air defense missiles for existing systems,” wrote Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on social media.

He thanked Scholz. “This is a real show of support for Ukraine at a critical moment. I call on all leaders of other partner countries to follow suit. We also discussed the upcoming conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine,” he added.
