The number of Russian casualties – killed and wounded – increases by an average of 1,187 per day, the British Ministry of Defence reported, citing data from the Ukrainian General Staff.

The number of Russian casualties (wounded and dead) since the beginning of the war has reached 610,000, the British Ministry of Defence said in its latest intelligence update, with an average of 1,187 added each day.

It was assessed that the increase in the number of victims is almost certainly related to the Ukrainian operation in the Russian Kursk Oblast and the ongoing Russian pressure in the Pokrov region. Russia continues to rely on “mass” to mitigate training and equipment deficiencies, it added.

“Although Russian pressure across the frontline will continue for the next month, limitations on their combat capabilities are likely to continue to limit their ability to translate any tactical successes into wider operational gains,” the British intelligence agency wrote.

“By September 2024, the Russian casualty rate will likely be above 1,000 per day as Russia continues operations across a broad front, from Kursk (Russia) in the north to Robotyne (Ukraine) in the south,” it said.
