Explosions can be heard in Sevastopol in the occupied Crimea since morning, the Ukrinform agency reported. Residents reported explosions in various parts of the city. Meanwhile, as the agency reported, the occupation authorities once again claim that the explosions are related to exercises at the training ground.

The agency referred to the Crimean Tatar channel CTRC on the Telegram service, which reported that “Sevastopol is noisy from the morning.” It was also reported about “panic among the population” in Sevastopol.

Ukrinform said that also in local channels on Telegram, residents of Sevastopol report about explosions in various parts of the city.

According to the agency’s reports, the explosion occurred near the village of Perevalne in the Simferopol region, where the coastal defense brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet is stationed.

Explosions in the annexed Crimea

Starting from August 2022, the sounds of explosions can be heard in Crimea almost every day. The local administration, delegated by Moscow, maintains each time that it is the result of anti-aircraft defense operations or the effective destruction of unmanned aerial vehicles approaching from the Ukraine – Radio Swoboda recalled in mid-February.

The Crimean peninsula was annexed by Russia in March 2014 as a result of military intervention and an illegal referendum. The authorities in Kiev and the West recognized these actions by the Kremlin as a violation of international law.
