Russian troops captured the center of the city of Kurakhov in the Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine, the independent Russian website Meduza reported on Sunday. The city is located near a key logistics hub of the Ukrainian army.
According to the Meduza website, citing a recording posted by one of the Russian military bloggers, the Russian flag was hung on the city government building.
The Ukrainian DeepState project, which transmits the latest reports from the front, alerted on December 6 that Russian troops were strengthening around Kurakhovy. The Russians were to capture four villages near the town and get dangerously close to this center.

Kurakhov is located south of Pokrovsk – a key logistics hub of the Ukrainian army. In addition to its military importance, the city is also important because of the dam of a water reservoir used by a thermal power plant.
Military journalist Bohdan Myroshnykov reported on Telegram in early December that “the general situation (around Kurakhovy) is critical.”
Before Russia's full-scale invasion, which began in February 2022, Kurakhov was inhabited by approximately 18,000 people. people.
