People who have experienced sexual violence feel shame, their families feel guilt because they failed to stop it, and others in the community feel fear that they may be treated in the same way by Russians. This mixture of emotions, guilt and fear reduces the strength of social bonds among people and the strength of their resistance – says Oleksandra Matwijczuk, Ukrainian human rights defender and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for 2022, in an interview with tvn24.pl.
