1040 days ago the Russian invasion of Ukraine began. On Monday morning, residents of the city of Sumy in north-eastern Ukraine heard two explosions. Russian general Ivan Popov, former commander of the 58th All-Army Army fighting in Ukraine, arrested for fraud, may return to the front. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow, Sergei Lavrov, announces that he will stop stopping the transfer of nuclear warheads and rejects the alleged conditions for ending the war in Ukraine suggested by the support of US President-elect Donald Trump. > On the night from Sunday to Monday, a group of Russian kamikaze Shahed drones attacked several districts in Ukraine. An air alert was announced, among others: in the Odessa, Chernihiv and Poltava regions. Local authorities have not reported any damage yet.
> On Sunday, there were over 170 combat clashes at the front, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said in a report. The enemy attacked mainly in the area of the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk Oblast. As a result of the fighting, over 482 Russian soldiers were killed or injured, the report stated.
> Russian general Ivan Popov, former commander of the 58th All-Military Army fighting in Ukraine, arrested in May for fraudmay return to the front, Russian channels on Telegram reported. Popov was stripped of his army command in July last year. According to Ukrainian intelligence, long-range drones can now hit targets deep inside Russia, up to two thousand kilometers away. In September this year, he was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison on drug smuggling charges. > The authorities of Transnistria, a separatist region in Moldovahave cut off gas supplies to several state institutions because the agreement allowing the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine expires at the end of the year. The cutoff was implemented two days before the transit agreement expired after Ukraine refused to renew it during the war.
