Most citizens Ukrainy is not ready to meet the conditions Russia regarding the end of the war. 81% of them oppose the recognition of the occupied Ukrainian territories as Russian. – according to a survey conducted between 8 and 15 August this year by the Ilko Kucherov Democratic Initiatives Foundation. The survey was conducted exclusively in the territories controlled by the Ukrainian government, where no war operations are taking place.

The study shows that 9 percent of Ukrainian citizens are ready to recognize the occupied territories as part of the Russian Federationif it would hasten the end of the war. That is 4 percentage points more than in August 2023. 81% of respondents strongly reject such a solution. That is a drop of 9 percentage points year-on-year.
Against The rejection of the Russian conditions is decided most of the inhabitants of the western, central and southern oblasts. This position was declared by 84% and 76% of respondents, respectively. In the east of the country, this ratio reaches 72%.
At the same time, one third of Ukrainians, 32 percent, believe that Negotiations with Russia on ending the war are possible only after the liberation of all Ukrainian territories. Among people aged 18-29, this number is slightly lower (28%) than the average, while among respondents aged 50-59, on the contrary, it is higher (36%).
When it comes to other conditions for possible negotiations with Russia, Ukrainian public opinion is almost evenly divided between those who allow negotiations only for the release of prisoners and hostages (19 percent of responses), those who believe that peace talks are possible even now (20 percent) and those who believe that negotiations with Russia are fundamentally impossible (18 percent).

Zelensky's secret meetings
The Ukrainian president announced on Thursday that two important meetings had been held. The talks focused on the situation on the front line and the implementation of goals in the Kursk region. Despite the secret nature of the meetings, Zelensky thanked the manufacturers of long-range weapons. “We are strengthening Ukraine's capabilities,” he added in a post on social media.
