Ukrainian attack in Kursk region

The offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk regionSevere from the morning of August 6. During this time, the Ukrainian army took control of over 80 towns. Hundreds of Russian soldiers were taken prisoner.

The Wall Street Journal writes that Russia may be forced to withdraw more troops from Ukraine if it wants to return the territory of Kursk Oblast to its control.

A group capable of doing this would probably consist of over 20,000 suitably trained military personnel. Russia has withdrawn several brigades from Ukraine numbering up to 5,000 soldiers in total.
