The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first and second degree warnings storms. The alerts will be valid from 11:00 PM on Wednesday, August 7th until 9:00 AM on Thursday, August 8th at the latest – transferred on platform X. Dangerous weather phenomena will pass through the western regions of Poland.

IMGW issued storm warnings in Poland. Hail is also possible

First-degree warnings will apply to the West Pomeranian, Lubuskie, Wielkopolskie, a significant part of Lower Silesia and western Opole counties. – In these areas, storms will be accompanied by heavy rainfall, mostly up to 30-35 liters per square meter and wind gusts of up to about 70 kilometers per hour, locally there may be hail – said the spokesman IMWM Grzegorz Walijewski.

Second-degree warnings were issued for the western and southern counties of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. There, during storm up to 40 liters of water per square meter may fall. Gusts of rain are also possible wind up to about 70 kilometers per hour. Locally, small hail will fall.

Meanwhile, next week, Poland will once again experience higher temperatures. Heatwaves are expected from August 12. “From Monday and Tuesday, we will experience heatwaves up to around 34 degrees Celsius. The GFS model predicts even higher temperatures, up to almost 40 degrees Celsius. However, the model's calculations should be approached with a large margin, >7 days, the verifiability is low <50%" - IMWM informed on Wednesday.
