IMGW warns of storms. In western Poland, lightning discharges may occur until the morning hours on Thursday. In addition, in many regions of the country, even second-degree heat alarms are in effect.

Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first and second degree meteorological warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – heat

Orange heat alerts apply in the following provinces:

  • lubuskiein the entire area except for the following counties: Strzelce-Drezdenko, Gorzów, Gorzow Wielkopolski. It will be dangerous until Saturday until 8 pm;
  • Lower Silesianin the entire area except for the following counties: Zgorzelec, LubaÅ„, Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia GoraKamienna Góra, WaÅ‚brzych, WalbrzychKÅ‚odzko. The alarms will expire on Saturday at 8 p.m.;
  • Opolewhere the warnings will expire at 8pm on Saturday;

  • Subcarpathianeverywhere except the counties of JasÅ‚o and Krosno, LoomSanok, Lesko, Bieszczady. Warnings will be in force from Thursday from 12:00 to 20:00 on Sunday;
  • Lublinwhere it will be dangerous from Thursday from 12 p.m. to Sunday until 8 p.m.;
  • Masovianin the southern and western counties, where warnings will be active from Thursday from 12:00 to 20:00 on Saturday;
  • Lodzwhere the alerts will expire at 8pm on Saturday;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian. It will be dangerous there until Saturday at 8 p.m.;
  • Greater Polandin the entire area except for the following counties: ZÅ‚otów, PiÅ‚a, Czarnków-Trzcianka. The alarms will expire on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Heatwaves are forecast for these locations. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius, and minimum nighttime temperatures from 16 to 20 degrees Celsius.

First degree IMWM warnings – heat

First-degree heat warnings apply in the following provinces:

  • Greater Polandin Czarnków-Trzcianka district. The alarms will expire at 8 p.m. on Thursday;
  • ÅšwiÄ™tokrzyskiewhere it will be dangerous from 12 noon on Thursday to 8 p.m. on Friday;
  • Pomeranianin the southern and eastern counties. The alarms will be in force on Thursday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.;
  • Warmia-Masuriain western counties. Warnings are to be in effect on Thursday from 12:00 to 20:00;
  • Masovianin the following counties: MÅ‚awa, Ciechanów. It will be dangerous from Thursday from 12:00 to 20:00 of the same day;
  • Silesianin Å»ywiec County and in counties not covered by second degree warnings in the province. Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian, where high temperatures will be a threat from 12pm on Thursday to 8pm on Friday.

It is expected to be hot there – the maximum temperature during the day will be between 29 and 30 degrees Celsius.

IMWM first degree warnings – storms

In some parts of the country, yellow warnings are also in force. storms. They were issued in the following provinces:

Thunderstorms are forecast there, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 20 to 25 liters per square meter and wind gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. Locally, hail may fall.

The alerts will come into effect at 11pm on Wednesday and expire at 7am on Thursday.
