Activists again laid a wreath with the inscription: “In memory of the 95 victims of Lech Kaczyński, who, ignoring all procedures, ordered the pilots to land in Smolensk in extremely difficult conditions. Rest in peace. Polish nation” in front of the monument at Piłsudski Square. Earlier, there was a verbal exchange with Law and Justice politicians.

Celebrations of the 14th anniversary of the Smolensk disaster are underway. After the morning service celebrated in the Warsaw seminary church, politicians walked to the monument of President Lech Kaczyński, and then to the monument to the Victims of the Smolensk Tragedy at Piłsudski Square.

Activists also came there, headed by Zbigniew Komosa, who every month on the anniversary of the Smolensk disaster lay a wreath in front of the monument with the inscription: “In memory of the 95 victims of Lech Kaczyński, who, ignoring all procedures, ordered the pilots to land in Smolensk in extremely difficult conditions. Rest in peace “The Polish Nation”.

At Piłsudski Square, there was a sharp exchange of words between PiS politicians Marek Suski and Anita Czerwińska and counter-demonstrators who wanted to lay a wreath. Suski and Czerwińska made sure that the counter-demonstrators did not do this. Activists were told that they were “propagating Putin's version.” The video of the incident was shown by Fakt.pl.

After the ceremony, after several minutes of verbal clashes between the counter-demonstrators and Suski and Czerwińska, they laid a wreath with a controversial plaque in front of the monument.

Jakub Pacyniak, spokesman for the downtown police, informs that no report has been received regarding the incident. We also asked Zbigniew Komosa about the matter and we are waiting for an answer.

Several notices regarding damage to the wreath

More than once, attempts to lay a wreath ended in scuffles with Law and Justice politicians. Several of the incidents are being investigated by the police. Earlier notifications concerned damage to the wreath and the theft of the plaque.

In October, a notification was received regarding “destruction of property by Jarosław Kaczyński”, in January “destruction of property and theft of a plaque by Anita Czerwińska”, and in February “destruction of property and theft of a plaque by Marek Suski”.
