A mural commemorating one of the greatest legends of Polish music – Czesław Niemen – was officially unveiled in Saska Kępa. The graphic appeared on the facade of Primary School No. 168, whose patron is Niemen.
The mural is intended not only to commemorate the school's patron, but also to remind of his influence on Polish culture and art. The graphic with the artist's likeness, created by Ola Jasionowska, presents the image of Niemen in intense colors: blue, yellow and orange. The painting also includes two records and a fragment of one of the artist's most famous songs – “…but there are more people of good will.” These words are also the school's motto embroidered on its banner.
On the 20th anniversary of Niemen's death
The mural was created in a special year – the 60th anniversary of the school and the 85th anniversary of the birth and 20th anniversary of the death of Czesław Niemen. It is a symbolic combination of commemorating the history of the school with honoring the memory of this legendary figure of the Polish music scene.
The mural in Saska Kępa is another one that presents the image of an outstanding artist in the capital. The earlier ones can be admired at 14 Płytowa Street in Białołęka and on the building at 33 Młynarska Street in Wola.
