Recreation and leisure zone, pavilion for cafes and a pond with footbridges. The new park will be built at Botewa Street in Warsaw’s Białołęka district. The district office signed a contract for its construction. It will be undertaken by Nafibud from Bielsk Podlaski. The cost is six million zlotys.
The investment, awaited by the residents of Tarchomin, has just begun – announced the district authorities. The undeveloped green area will soon be teeming with life. The second tender announced by the district ended with the selection of the contractor.
Additional funds from the Council of Warsaw
– The settlement of the second tender for the construction of the park was possible thanks to the additional funds we received from the Council of Warsaw (…). With such a dynamic development of the district, we need money for a comprehensive development of infrastructure – educational, communication and social. We also need new places to rest – says Grzegorz Kuca, mayor of Białołęka, quoted in the communiqué on this subject.
The district had to annul the first tender for the construction of the park – the bids submitted exceeded the funds that Białołęka had for this task. “The contractor selected in the second tender – the company Nafibud from Bielsk Podlaski will implement the investment for PLN 6,180,000” – it was announced.
The park is ready this year
– According to the signed contract, the contractor will complete the full scope of works within six months. It will then have two months to obtain all permits to use the park. Everything indicates that this year we will enjoy the new, arranged green area in the heart of Tarchomin – says Jan Mackiewicz, deputy mayor of Białołęka responsible, among others, for for the green.
The author of the park design is the RS Landscape Architecture Studio Dorota Rudawa. The concept of this studio won an architectural competition for land development.
The park will occupy an area of approximately 9,700 square meters in the square of the following streets: Botewa, Myśliborska, Ćmielowska and Światowida. According to the project, it will be divided into functional parts.
What will the new park look like?
From the side of Myśliborska Street, a multifunctional zone is planned, including a clearing and a recreational zone for children. There will be a place for climbing logs and stumps and a section for building huts. The whole will be supplemented with leisure furniture – park benches will be set up. A multi-functional park pavilion will be built on the side of Światowida Street, intended for a café and an exhibition area. The glazed building in the shape of an ellipse will have a facade made of wooden slats. The basin from the side of Botewa street will transform into a park pond, over which footbridges are planned. Shrubs will be planted around the entire area of the park to isolate its interior from traffic nuisance.
The architectural competition was preceded by social consultations. The residents wanted the park to be adapted to the needs of various user groups and to preserve as many existing trees and shrubs as possible. The proposed solutions meet these expectations. “All trees that are healthy and do not pose a threat to the safety of users will be preserved, and the geometry of communication routes will be adapted to them. Park alleys will be made of permeable surfaces – mineral or possibly resin-bonded aggregate. Some of the routes will have a wooden, non-slip surface” – assured the district.
